PRT 5960-Special Topics in PRT
The most influential course that I took while at the University of Utah was PRT 5960-Special Topics in PRT. During this course, myself and a small group of other students traveled throughout Southern Utah, meeting with stakeholders in the region, with the ultimate goal of creating a comprehensive report of the issues we see in the area and how the stakeholder could potentially solve those issues. For my report, I focused on the town of Springdale, just outside of Zion National Park. A town of ~550, Springdale accomodated more than 4 million tourists in 2015, with the number expected to exceed 5 million in 2017. As such, they face various issues with water and energy use, overcrowding, and even parking along the streets of the town. After researching potential solutions, I compiled my findings into a report that I then sent to the Springdale City Commissioner. You can view the full report here.
Computer Skills
I am competent in the entire Microsoft Words Suite, have experience working with Adobe, and have a basic knowledge of computer coding. Through the University of Utah, I have taken a Computer Essentials course, rigorously testing students on their knowledge of the Microsoft Word Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher. Other courses, such as Electronic Marketing, have given me basic knowledge on web design and computer coding, as well as online marketing techniques for use in webpage design.
PRT 5460-Electronic Marketing for PRT
Part of my coursework for Parks, Recreation, and Tourism consisted of an eMarketing/graphic design course. Below, you will find all of our projects, in chronological order, to showcase the different skills we worked on throughout the class. In addition to these, this entire blog is our final project, so some of what we learned was coding based, which most people are unable to see unless they can access the website's code and understand what it all means.
While many of these photos took multiple different images in one photo, I will provide the original subject photograph for comparison with the edited photos if it is less obvious what the edits consisted of. Some of these photos have very obvious editing effects, while others may be more subtle.
The text effects and the face swap were the most fun to do, and I got a great sense of pride and accomplishment as my skills progressed.
See my Blog Post on the specifics of each picture.
